At the time of the Karthik Purnima i.e. full moon, each year in November, the Pushkar Camel Fair is held in Rajasthan. 31 October
The fair will start with the appearance of groups of camels, herders and traders from out of the desert and the setting up of camp in the sand dunes in Pushkar.
1 November
A number of camels, herders, nomads, traders and farmers will arrive, many by walking or by riding on a camel cart. This huge and wonderful gathering rapidly grows to immense ratio while most of the trading will take place during these first few days.
2 November
The arrivals of tourist and locals as well as traders will be continued. Probably, the best time for photography of village belles wearing colorful dresses' and locals with animals as well as the time when you may move around and go through the scene almost freely. During fair you can watch the marriage that take place in Pushkar.
3 November
Still the arrivals of people continue. Amid sand dunes, the gathering is supposed to be reaching to the maximum. It is thrilling to see all over the sand dunes groups of vendors and purchasers that gather around their cattle with the company of negotiators to arrange the best deals.
4 November
By this time the tented markets are a big hub of activity and for which the fairground is started setting set up. The fair spot becomes too crowded by the locals and tourists. In the stadium there are camel races, exhibitions and competitions take place.
5 November
Devoted to Cattle Fair and more people than before are expected to arrive, however after finishing their businesses the camels and their traders begin to vanish back in the desert as the fair goes on, still rest of the events continue.
6 November
The picture on the sand dunes is quite chaotic and busy in the Pushkar fair, with camel cart rides, musicians and vendors. Many speculating cultural activities take place round the stadium along with interesting competitions and a craft fair with handicraft stalls.
7 November
During the Pushkar Fair town, temples and markets are visited and crowded. The colorful fair-spot draws huge crowds with its beautifully decorated stalls, sideshow, street vendors and ferries' wheels.
8 November
There are myriad vibrantly-dressed locals and villagers arrive from throughout the region to take a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake. The fair-spot is ready for the full swing.
9 November
Pilgrims flocked to the streets in Pushkar and shop in markets in the fairground for their preparations for next days' Karthik Purnima that is the religious festival with their bathe in the holy Pushkar Lake, according to a legend this Pushkar Lake is believed to had been created by Lord Brahman when he dropped a sacred lotus to earth form the heaven.
